Hello from Dana Hawley Art Studio,
Every year I like to paint along the Russian River after Labor Day weekend when the kids are back to school and it’s peaceful and quiet, the air soft and warm, the river cold. It’s a tradition that is restorative and productive. Since I’m preparing for another Open Studio with ArtTrails this October 13,14 and 20, 21, it’s a good time to reflect on the past year.I have recently spent time painting plein air in Carmel, the Dry Creek Valley, and Summer Home Park on the Russian River.I donated an afternoon of painting with me to KRCB and will be hosting that next weekend. Clutch has licensed more of my images for beautiful scarves. We have a new look in the tasting room/gallery, please drop by if you haven’t already.I’m excited to be helping plan a new art exhibit, A Sense Of Place, at the Healdsburg Museum next January where historical paintings will be juxtaposed with contemporary paintings. Also, the prestigious Paul Mahler Gallery will be showing one of my nudes during ArtTrails .
I always need to balance putting my art out to the public with the alone time in the studio and field. When I close my studio door it’s my time to focus, to find the convergence between realism and abstraction, and to settle into my deep love for art in my life. I hope some of that resonates with you. Hope to see you at my Open Studio in October.
