Every year I like to paint along the Russian River after Labor Day weekend when the kids are back to school and it’s peaceful and quiet, the air soft and warm, the river cold. It’s a tradition that is restorative and productive. Since I’m preparing for another Open Studio with ArtTrails this October 13,14 and 20, 21, it’s a good time to reflect on the past year.I have recently spent time painting plein air in Carmel, the Dry Creek Valley, and Summer Home Park on the Russian River.I donated an afternoon of painting with me to KRCB and will be hosting that next weekend. Clutch has licensed more of my images for beautiful scarves. We have a new look in the tasting room/gallery, please drop by if you haven’t already.I’m excited to be helping plan a new art exhibit, A Sense Of Place, at the Healdsburg Museum next January where historical paintings will be juxtaposed with contemporary paintings. Also, the prestigious Paul Mahler Gallery will be showing one of my nudes during ArtTrails .
I always need to balance putting my art out to the public with the alone time in the studio and field. When I close my studio door it’s my time to focus, to find the convergence between realism and abstraction, and to settle into my deep love for art in my life. I hope some of that resonates with you. Hope to see you at my Open Studio in October.
Art Trails Open Studio:

I have licensed four images to the new owner of Clutch in Healdsburg. She has printed them onto luxurious pure silk satin shawls or large scarves. I’m so pleased with the quality of the colors and the high end contemporary look. They will be released in the store in November 2015 and come in their own unique wood veneer box!. www.Cluthchhealdsburg.com
A time to replenish my painting supplies and shake off the comfort of the indoors. We’ve had a “false Spring” in California so I’ve already been out plein air painting. While my studio is my sanctuary, being out in nature brings me artistic renewal and balance. The reverence I experience from reflecting on all that we garner from nature, our oxygen, food, shelter, stability, becomes an antidote to life’s difficulties. When I paint for myself and love my work,it often resonates with others and keeps me painting new area and ideas.
In April of this year I will be attending the Second Annual Plein Air Convention in Monterey. Last year I spent a week painting with a friend at the Warnecke Ranch Artist Residency in Alexander Valley. In 2012 both Lapis Gallery in Denver and The Studio Gallery in San Francisco included my work in their shows. This October 12-13 &19-20 I will once again participate in Artrails Open Studio.
I would like to welcome everyone to my new website. This is a much simpler and easier to navigate website than the previous one. It showcases my work and it also features a full secure online store to order limited edition prints of my work. Please check the shop page for ordering.
